Pte. Curwin grew up in Mount Uniacke, NS where he loved to play hockey and was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan. He enjoyed fishing, Friday night poker games with his friends and the early Saturday morning golf games that followed. John married his childhood sweetheart, Laura, and was a dedicated dad to their three children. "John was loved by everyone who knew him, from his friends, immediate family and his extended family," the Curwin family said in a statement Sunday night.
Curwin and his colleagues were part of a quick reaction force, responding to concerns that a suspicious object was being placed along the roadway west of Kandahar city when the deadly explosion happened. |
