| Service Notes: |
Lacey, who went through basic military training with Keller in 1997, called him a gung-ho young soldier who was realistic and smart.
"One of those guys who was great to have around," Lacey said of his buddy. "Someone you'll never forget."
Medal of Military Valour (Posthumous) "On 3 August 2006, while exposed to intense enemy fire in Afghanistan, Cpl Keller demonstrated courage and leadership in order to allow his comrades to attend to a critically wounded soldier. Sadly, Cpl Keller made the ultimate sacrifice that day, but his selfless actions contributed to saving lives and enabled his platoon to hold vital terrain until reinforcements arrived." |
| Pre/Post War: |
He joined the reserves in 1997 and, while on a course in Kingston, Ont., in 1998, he met his wife, Sarah. He moved to Sherwood Park, where the couple later married and built a life together. |
