He enjoyed fishing, Friday night poker games with his friends and the early Saturday morning golf games that followed. John married his childhood sweetheart, Laura, and was a dedicated dad to their three children. "John was loved by everyone who knew him, from his friends, immediate family and his extended family," the Curwin family said in a statement Sunday night. Curwin and his colleagues were part of a quick reaction force, responding to concerns that a suspicious object was being placed along the roadway west of Kandahar city when the deadly explosion happened.
